"Stylish Stitches"; October 4th 2011

Philip Warren came from Leicestershire County Museum to give us a presentation on their fashion collection, which dates from the mid-18th century to date. Although most of the collection originates from Leicester, they do have clothes from other parts of the world. Amongst their vast range of items they have 50 Girl Guide uniforms that span the years! A lot of his visual material was of very close-up details of intricate beading, braiding, and stitches, which was breathtaking to see! He had also brought items for us to see and touch. From the two rounds of applause he received, I'm sure that all members present had a fascinating evening.
